about tonicQ
tonicQ is all about you. It's about your stories, your experiences and how they affected who are you today. tonicQ started out as an idea to craft storytelling and graphic elements into something interesting, something different. We hope we've succeeded on both fronts.
We aim to provide a venue for LGBT writers to share their words and experiences. We encourage you, the reader, to share your thoughts at the end of each story.
Although the content here on tonicQ is not necessarily LGBT-specific, our writers are. We are always looking for talented writers to feature here on tonicQ. Whether you're a seasoned scribe or someone who writes for the sake of writing, we want to hear from you! Look over our submission guidelines below for more information.
tonicQ submission guidelines
tonicQ accepts submissions from anyone with a story to tell. And we believe that everyone has at least one or two.
We encourage you to submit your writing and we only ask that you follow three suggestions:
1. First person, first person, and...oh...first person!
2. Be brutally honest. Non-fiction only, smarty pants.
3. We're looking for stories that are roughly 500-1000 words in length.
Stories do not have to be LGBT specific, but we encourage writers who are. We're not looking for just any story, but one that affected you and really made you stop and think. Make it personal. We're not keen on censorship, but keep it legal, m'kay? Just about any subject matter will be considered, though. Yes, the story does have to be true and about you. And, yes, we'd prefer you sign your real name. Nothing anonymous, please.
We'd like your story to end with a question for others to answer. So when writing your piece, think of how others might relate and answer the question themselves. We're looking to engage readers and open a dialogue between the author and our readership.
Remember, tonicQ is all about you. Sharing 'warts and all' missives about yourself is encouraged...strongly encouraged.
Remember, no fiction and no poetry, please.
Due to the number of submissions we receive, we won't be able to respond to everyone. We'll let you know, however, if your story has been chosen for publication. Should your story be published, we'd love to include your photo, URL and/or email addy to include on our masthead.
We will also design (by use of photographs, illustrations, etc.) around your story. However, if you're a designer and would like to be considered, please send us samples of your work and/or your URL.
Remember: keep it personal but, most of all, have fun with your story.
Submit your story to tonicQ today!
